A film about producing the Leeds College of Art student magazine NEST (issue 6) at Pressision in Leeds.
From blank page to finished magazine, the four-colour printing process, the application of transparent foil to the cover, the folding of the 16 double-page spreads, the saddleback stitching, and trimming are all recorded in intimate detail.
The most popular type of lithographic printing for commercial purposes is the offset process, as shown in the film. The inked image is first printed on a rubber cylinder, which then offsets, or transfers, the image to paper or other materials. Lithographic offset printing can produce high-quality, finely detailed impressions at high speed.
