During the day Daniel works as a Digital Communications Officer, focussing on websites and social media content for Leeds College of Art, but in the evenings he switches to analogue technology and letterpress prints from a print room set up in the basement of his home in Leeds.
Early in 2014, inspired by Leeds Print Festival and interested in linocut printing, he bought a small second-hand table-top printing press, an Adana, but when he realised it could be used for letterpress printing too his curiosity for the craft was sparked. By the end of the year he had collected a small library of wood and metal type from eBay and auctions, and had printed a collection of cards and small books for himself and friends and family.
Self-taught from books, YouTube, and the supportive online letterpress community, he plans to learn more by attending classes at West Yorkshire Print Workshop and printing at home for fun.
Daniel hopes this will help him go bigger and get better with his letterpress printing in the future, as well as finding techniques to combine it with his talents as photographer.
